Karoline Alnes is one of Auka’s newest employees. You won’t believe how she got her job!
Name: Karoline Alnes
Job title: Market Analyst
How long have you worked for Auka?
Worst part about your job?
I guess the coffee could be better?
Best part about your job?
I really enjoy learning from talented people who have created a product that is changing peoples lives. A lot of things are happening in Europe and around the world. I think it is interesting to see how mobile payments are providing new opportunities and paving the way for financial inclusion, globally. To take part in this development is very rewarding.
What was your dream job growing up?
I wanted to be a carpenter so I could build my own house.
Who do you admire the most?
My family. As the youngest of three sisters, it’s natural that they’ve always been my heroes, basically copying everything they did. Also, Tim Ferris, serial entrepreneur and author of several books. Check him out!
What is your biggest achievement or what do you feel proudest of?
That must be my friendships. I’ve learned through them and my travels the importance of having an open mind and the ability to adapt. It’s given me friendships and memories all over the world.
Give one prediction for ten years from now?
Universal income is widespread, enabled by G2P mobile payments. And we will have avocado flavoured sodas.
Your favourite quote
“There is no angry way to say bubbles”
What one piece of advice would you give to others wanting to be a market analyst?
In my experience, chop off your fingertip so that somebody working in a cool company like Auka can drive you to the doctor’s office! But seriously, be open to new opportunities and be curious to developments happening around the world.
