Last month, we hosted our exclusive panel event at the Royal Norwegian Ambassador’s Residency, alongside local industry experts to share their insights and perceptions of mobile payments in the small business community of Croatia.
The panel was based off recent research we conducted in January where we commissioned a survey of 28, 000 service, retail and hospital businesses across the 28 EU regions to better understand the current state of play for mobile payments and the potential uptake of digital currency in the next 12 months.
The results are promising. Overall, 88 percent of SMEs have some form of online presence with more than half of our respondents accepting mobile payment transactions.
But, with cash remaining as the preferred payment method across Europe, there is still progress required to reinforce the mobile payment opportunity for businesses.
We had an engaging conversation about whether consumers and businesses are truly ready for mobile payments, and what the current challenges businesses face in order to adopt the next generation of payments.
