Our new hire, Software Quality Engineer, Vando Batista, tells us a little more about himself.
What were you doing immediately before you joined Auka?
I was on a sabbatical, enjoying the time-off to travel, to learn sailing and challenge myself on the sea, to network and meet inspiring people, and to rethink what’s next.
Career highlight to date?
Have presented my master’s work at JavaOne conference (San Francisco) and at Symposium on Applied Computing (Honolulu). I have built a mobile app which is part of a government service for disabled patients transportation from their home to healthcare clinics in my country (Brazil).
One thing you wish you could tell yourself when you were 18?
You can visit fascinating countries and meet amazing people while working remotely. So start developing your international career as soon as possible.
What advice do you have for others wanting to be a Software Quality Engineer?
– Understand the synergy between business, design, technology
– Be agile by helping the team with quick feedback and by being capable to tell a story with tests
– Always think about how to improve the quality of process and products
What are you most excited about in your new role?
Being part of a great talented team in the challenging and changing fintech industry where Auka, on the scaling phase to new markets, is playing a key role.
What’s your best “local” tip for newcomers to Oslo?
Go for a walk tour by yourself on Torggata, have a cappuccino at Cafe Sør, a kebab with some beers at Crowbar & Bryggeri, and then go dance surrounded by good music and vibe at Kulturhuset.
