Staff profile: David Zacks, Head of Compliance

Straight from one of the world’s most famous tech hubs San Francisco, compliance heavy-weight David Zacks joined Auka in April, the day after moving to Oslo.

What were you doing immediately before you joined Auka?

I was the Director of Payment Operations at Yapstone, a high-growth Fintech company in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Career highlight to date?

I was working at Airbnb and part of the team that helped the company to launch in Cuba.

One thing you wish you could tell yourself when you were 18?

You can connect with someone on a much deeper level when you know their language.

What advice do you have for others wanting to be a head of compliance?

Be intellectually curious and never stop learning.

What are you most excited about in your new role?

Working with a global team that is changing how the world pays.

What’s your best “local” tip for newcomers to Oslo?

The best way to see the city is to go for a jog. Time to lace up.

Self discipline and to be intellectually curious.
