Settle is a financial service ( referred to as “Settle” or “Service“) provided by Settle Group AS with its registered address at Apotekergata 10, 0180 Oslo, Norway, company No. 995 073 064, (referred to as”SG”, “Settle Group“, “we” or “us“) which can be accessed and used by installing the official Settle application ( referred to as “Application” or “App“) on supported mobile devices. All currently available features of Settle can be found at www.settle.eu (“Website”). Note that Settle may have different features and fees depending on the jurisdiction you reside in(“Home Country“) and where you are located when using the Service.

This Settle Acceptable Use Policy (“Acceptable Use Policy”) sets out the terms under which you may use and/or access the Service. If you do not agree with this Acceptable Use Policy, you must stop using the Service.

This Acceptable Use Policy complements any agreement you have entered into with Settle Group regarding use of the Services, such as the Settle End User License Agreement (“EULA”) for individual Users and the Settle Merchant Agreement (“Merchant Agreement”) for Users who are Merchants, or similar, and forms an integral part thereof.

Any capitalized terms used in this Acceptable Use Policy and not specifically defined hereunder, shall have the same meaning ascribed to them under the EULA and the Merchant Agreement, respectively.

1. Lawful Use

You may only use Settle for lawful purposes. You must not use Settle:

  • Unlawfully or fraudulently, ie in any way that breaches the laws of Norway, the laws of your Home Country or the laws of the Home Country for any recipient of our Services (“Applicable Laws”), or causes Settle to breach any Applicable Laws or regulations;
  • for anything that is abusive, harmful, or otherwise in non-compliance with our Content Standards or accepted industry best practice guidelines;
  • in a way that disrupts or damages any of our computer systems, applications or network or other parties’ computer systems and networks;
  • in a way that violates any person’s rights, including but not limited to personality and intellectual property rights; or
  • for unsupported/prohibited businesses and transactions (clause 4.).

2. Individuals and Merchants


Individuals may only use Settle if they have agreed to the EULA.If you are a legal entity or entity other than an individual then you must agree to the Merchant Agreement. Merchants accepting payments via Settle where payment cards (ie bank/credit cards) have been used as a Funding Source must comply with the applicable Payment Card Network Operator Policy. Attempting to use or using Settle without complying with this section is a Material Breach of this Acceptable Use Policy.

3. Restricted Industries

The restricted business types and industries in clause 3 (“Restricted Industries”) carry a higher risk in relation to our Service, legal and regulatory requirements and fraud or reputational risk. It is expected that all Merchants and Users that provide, facilitate, receive payment from or pay to the Restricted Industries listed in this section will be subject to enhanced due diligence and may not be permitted to use our Service in accordance with our EULA or Merchant Agreement.

The following is a non-exhaustive list of Restricted Industries:

  • Alcohol businesses, including payments for the sale of alcohol to retail customers;
  • Cryptocurrency services or exchange;
  • Financial products and services;
  • Gambling activities such as lotteries, fantasy sports with cash prizes, games of chance with cash prizes, sales of in-game currencies by unauthorised vendors, any type of gambling payments or businesses, any other type of businesses related to gambling, at Settle Group’s own discretion;
  • Pharmaceuticals including nutraceuticals, pseudo-pharmaceuticals, and other products which make unreasonable health claims not approved or verified by the applicable regulatory body. Online pharmacies, prescription-only pharmaceutical drugs and payments for the sale of pharmaceutical products to retail customers;
  • Tobacco products; and
  • Any other Restricted Industry which Settle deems to be high-risk.

4. Prohibited Activity

The following is a non-exhaustive list of industries and services that are not permitted by Settle (“Prohibited Activity”). You may only engage in Prohibited Activity with Settle’s expressed written consent. If you engage in Prohibited Activity without our consent then Settle may take action pursuant to the applicable EULA or Merchant Agreement.

You must not use Settle to engage in any Prohibited Activity that:

  • relates to sales of illegal narcotics, steroids, certain controlled substances, sexually-oriented materials or services, ammunition, firearms or certain parts of accessories, certain weapons or knives regulated under applicable law, or other such products that present a risk to consumer safety;
  • Adult content such as pornography and other visual content depicting explicitly sexual acts, services of sexual nature (webcam shows, live chats, prostitution, escorts, etc) and sexually oriented establishments (massage parlors, strip clubs, gentleman’s clubs);
  • Certain controlled substances or other products such as smart drugs, supplements, substances that provide similar effects as illegal drugs (kratom, khat, etc.;
  • Legal cannabis products such as products containing CBD and any other products or services related to legal marijuana trade;
  • Pharmaceuticals including nutraceuticals, pseudo-pharmaceuticals, and other products which make unreasonable health claims not approved or verified by the applicable regulatory body. Online pharmacies, prescription-only pharmaceutical drugs and payments for the sale of pharmaceutical products to retail customers;
  • Drug paraphernalia, including any equipment, product, or material which is intended for making, using, or concealing drugs;
  • Includes the top-up of other third party wallets, use of payment services, use of e-money services or currency trading, investment services or lending products and services (this paragraph applies only to Merchants);
  • encourages, promotes, facilitates or instructs others to engage in violence, racial intolerance, the financial exploitation of a crime or other illegal activity;
  • misrepresents your identity or affiliation with any person or entity;
  • infringes or violates the intellectual property or privacy rights of any third party;
  • supports pyramid schemes, matrix programs, other “get rich quick” schemes or certain multi-level marketing;
  • is associated with purchases of real property, annuities or lottery contracts, lay-away systems, off-shore banking or transactions to finance or refinance debts funded by a credit card;
  • involves illegal gambling;
  • harms, disrupts or otherwise engages in an activity that diminishes the Settle Services, websites, computer systems or network;
  • modifies, translates, adapts, edits, copies, decompiles, disassembles or reverse engineers any software used or provided by Settle; or
  • interferes with any other party’s ability to use Settle.

5. Content standards

These content standards (“Content Standards”) apply to any content or material you contribute or publish using Settle (“Contributions”).

Contributions must:

  • be accurate;
  • be genuinely held (where they state opinions); and
  • comply with Applicable Laws.

Contributions must not:

  • contain any material which is defamatory;
  • contain any material which is obscene, offensive, hateful, or inflammatory;
  • promote sexually explicit material;
  • promote violence;
  • promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age;
  • be harming or attempting to harm minors in any way;
  • infringe any intellectual property rights of any other person;
  • be likely to deceive any person;
  • be made in breach of any legal duty owed to a third party, such as a contractual duty or a duty of confidence;
  • promote any illegal activity;
  • be abusive, threatening in any way, invade another’s privacy, or cause annoyance, inconvenience, or needless anxiety;
  • be likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm, or annoy any other person;
  • be used to impersonate any person, or to misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person; or
  • give the impression that they relate to Settle, if this is not the case.

6. Breach of the Acceptable Use Policy

We alone will determine in our sole discretion whether there has been a Breach of this Acceptable Use Policy through your use of the Service.

7. Changes to the Acceptable Use Policy

We may revise this Acceptable Use Policy at any time by amending this page. You will be notified of changes through the Settle Application. We also recommend checking our Website regularly for updates.
